Poppermost
Newsletter December 2006
We
Need Your Help
Greetings
and salutations to all of our Popperfamily out there across
the universe. We're just popping in to wish you Happy
Holidays, a.k.a.
a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukah, a cool Kwanza, and a Happy New
Year. Our present to you this wonderful season is the "Merry
Christmas"
song which you can download FREE at http://www.poppermost.com/.
We're also using this particular newsletter as a call to arms
among those of you we know and trust. Please read on.
Calling
all Popperfamily, friends, and fans.
Please help our cause.
Do you
recall those annual candy drives when you were in elementary
school? You remember; your teacher would give you a glossy 4
page
brochure with mouth-watering pictures of all of those delicious
chocolate covered candies, a customer sign-up sheet, and a brown
envelope for the money collected? Or as an adult, do you
remember one
of your favorite kids walking up to you and giving you the "puppy dog
eyes" to get you to buy candy to help support a worthy cause?
We have
such a cause that we think is worthy enough for you to consider.
We at
Poppermost are asking for your help. We are asking all
of our
family, friends, and fans to please consider investing in us by placing
a pre-paid order for a copy of our new CD, Bitter Suite Swan
Songs,
to help us raise enough money to have it professionally pressed.
On the
previous albums, we did it all ourselves, but it's time to "up the
ante" and make this one even better. We've done it all on a
shoestring
before, and though we're still working on a shoestring, this new
"string" is a little more expensive. We're determined to stay
out of
debt, and we need your help to raise enough money for the pressing, so
we are asking you to help by investing in us and our best work to date.
"So
why should I invest 10 bucks in the new Poppermost
CD now? It won't be ready right away, and
I could get that new CD by The Killers in time to go under the tree
instead."
The answer
is that without your small, yet worthwhile investment, it
will take a lot longer to save up enough on our own to get it pressed.
And we really want to release this CD sooner
than later; we want to share it with you and other music lovers around
the world.
"So,
what's so special about the new Poppermost disc?
Did they hire Panic! At The Disco?"
Bitter
Suite Swan Songs is the sound of
Poppermost growing
in confidence as our musical ideas become more potent. The
disc shows a
wide and rich musical palate where power pop, orchestral, and choirboy
harmonies rub shoulders with rock and biting folk music social
commentary. The eclectic musical diversity of Bitter
Suite Swan Songs
showcases the best songs Poppermost has to offer to date. We
know
you'll find some new favorites, and you'll want to keep it in your CD
and MP3 players for a long time.
Okay,
maybe we have you thinking about helping our cause. If you'd like
to take some of the new music from Bitter Suite Swan Songs
for a test drive, please visit our MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/poppermost.
Clear your mind and prepare to "feed your head" with some of
the best new indie music you've ever heard.
If there
is a matter of trusting us to indeed send you a copy of the
new disc when they're ready, let us assure you we have been working
under the name Poppermost in conjunction with Alex's Suicide Pop!
Records and Roy's Trimordial Studio for 6 years, and we would not do
anything to damage the excellent reputation we've established with our
family, friends, and fans. As Alex likes to say, "All you
have in this
world is your name and your word. Ruin one and you'll ruin
the other."
We whole-heartedly believe in this CD. We're
looking for those of you
out there who also believe that this is, indeed something special.
Please
share your thoughts. If you believe in anything at all
this
holiday season, please believe in Poppermost and please help our dream
of sharing music come true. For more details, respond to this
e-mail or
click on the graphic below.
Happy
Holidays,
Alex and
Roy Al

Drum
Roll, Please. . .
It finally
happened! After months of deliberations, debate,
brainstorming sessions, a few knockdowns, and a plethora of truly
wonderful ideas from our friends and fans, we've decided on an album
title. And now the winner for the title of the third
Poppermost album
is... drum roll, please... the winner is... Bitter Suite Swan
Songs. Oooh, such wonderful applause... you're too
kind... thank you, thank you!
Free
copies of Bitter Suite Swan Songs will be
going out, when
it's done, to all of you kind folks who took the time and effort to
respond to our request for title suggestions.
Download
Reminder
And
speaking of free, if you missed the opportunity to download "Down,"
don't worry, the rest of you will be able to hear it when you buy the
album, Bitter Suite Swan Songs. Even if
you get the free
monthly downloads, you should still buy the album because as we've
mentioned with all these new songs, they are the pre-mastered,
pre-album release previews. Once the songs are mastered they'll be even
better than they are now, plus you can hear CD quality which still
beats our MP3 quality.
Our FREE
DOWNLOAD for this month is "Catch Me If I Fall" from the Absolutely
Sonic album, and you can get it for free only at http://www.poppermost.com/.

Poppermost
Newsletter: Aug 2006
Boy,
Howdy!
Greetings
and salutations from us here in Popperland. Just a
quick note
to say hi, and to let you know that we haven't forgotten you!
Most of
you guys are in the songs! Alex and Roy have been hard at
work (out in
the "real world" and in Trimordial Studio) on the next CD.
Still
untitled, we are currently looking towards October or November for
worldwide release on Suicide Pop! Records. ("Hey! Our label
still digs
our music, man! How cool is that?")
New
Song!
We also
want to let you know that you can hear a new track (a
pre-mastered, pre-album release preview) from the upcoming new CD (yes,
it really is still untitled). On our web site only (http://www.poppermost.com/),
you can hear "Down," an "open love letter written by a young man to win
the heart of his first true girlfriend." Driven by powerful
acoustic
guitars, this song has an addictive Latin-flavored rhythm, with lyrics
guaranteed to "melt your butter."
When the
first fan who heard the song learned there was some question
as to whether or not the song would be included on the new CD, she
said, "Man, that's an amazing song!!! You've got to put it on
the
album! Gorgeous guitar work and the harmonies are
delicious!! I'll be
playing this one a LOT!!"
It's a
free download this month, so take advantage of it while you have
the opportunity!
Alex
in drag!
Did you
know Alex was dressed in drag when he wrote "Down?"
Yup, and we
have pictures! We might even post them soon. (Just
don't tell Alex!)
Poppermost
on MySpace, girls in glasses, and waterfowl .
. .
If you
haven't visited our MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/poppermost)
yet, you'll find the following songs, which are also in consideration
for placement on the next album (also pre-mastered, pre-album release
previews):
"Swan" - a
song for everyone who ever felt like an "ugly duckling,"
this song has been described as "haunting" and "beautiful" with
shimmering 3-part harmonies. Special thanks to Rick Wright
and David
Gilmour of Pink Floyd for vocal ideas. We love you!
"Kristen"
- a song written in exchange for a Beatles poster, this song
is for a special member of the worldwide Popperfamily. It has
been
compared by some of our friends and fans to early R.E.M. and Modern
English -- remember their early 80s hit "Melt With You?"
"I Will
Begin" - this slow burnin' little rocker has been compared to
Queen (?) and Bob Marley (huh??). Either way, this song will
get you
thinking, "What in the he**?"
Each song
has received great reviews from our friends and fans from all
over the world. If you haven't heard these 3 songs yet, we
invite you
to stop by our page for a test drive. Let us know what you
think,
please.
Birthday
Corner
We missed
a few birthday wishes since we wrote last. So part
of this is
belated wishes for our friends who had birthdays in the months of June
and July, and part is for those August birthday babies coming up.
We
wish you had or have the best day ever.
Jeff C,
Poppermost, Prince, Emile D, Paul M, "Mikey" T, Farrah R,
Brian W, Debbie O, Anita D, Ringo S, Merle R, Troy G, Mick J,
Renee L, and Curt M.
Happy
Birthday all!
Adios
Amigos (and Ami-gettes)!
That's it
for now. Thanks for sticking in there with us, and
we'll keep
you informed of any new developments regarding the new CD.
We're still
taking suggestions for the title of our latest disc, so keep sending
them our way. Just remember that we're not a rap group:
nothing too
suggestive, explicit, and the words of the title MUST be spelled
correctly. Thanx.

"In
Honor of Deserving Mothers Everywhere"
Hello from
Poppermost HQ! In honor of Mother's Day,
"Lady-In-Waiting" (from the first Poppermost CD, oddly enough called Poppermost)
will be available on the Poppermost web site, http://www.poppermost.com/,
until the end of May for your FREE downloading pleasure.
Originally
written about Alex's late mother, the song is a celebration of
deserving moms everywhere. We'd be honored if you would
please download
the song and share it with your mothers come this special day.
Thanks.
This
beautiful graphic is one of Roy's brilliant creations.
Talented,
isn't he? Some of you will want to check out the detail of
the book,
particularly Elizabeth, Annette, Merle, Ann, and Dave. If you
want a
larger view, check out the "view more pics" section of our MySpace
profile.
New
Song on MySpace.com
There is a
new Poppermost song on our MySpace page. Entitled
"Kristen,"
it is a song that celebrates one of those endearing, yet certifiable
characters in the Poppermost family. Originally written by
Alex as
payment (or payback -- decide for yourself) for a Beatles "Live at the
London Palladium" poster that Kristen found for him, this song is a
guaranteed "free your mind, ass will follow" three-minute-moment.
Pop
on over to http://www.myspace.com/poppermost
and check it out.
"Happy
Happy Birthday, Baby!"
A while
back, we put in a request for you guys to send us your
birthdates, because we wanted to be able to give you the recognition
you deserve for your day. So now we continue with the May
birthdays of
some of our Popperfamily by sending out birthday wishes and butterfly
kisses. Happy Birthday shouts of love go out to:
Annette O,
Andy G, Ava L, Erika S, Peter T, Harriet B, Erika W, Terilyn
P, and Eric B.
Each of
these people have been supportive of Poppermost, and we'd like
to show equal support as they get older, losing their hair.
Happy
Birthday, guys. We love you.
And
the Battle?
Just a
quick note to let you know that because of your love,
dedication, and votes, Poppermost won first place in the Battle of the
ZBands contest, hosted by http://www.zbands.com/.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to vote and help us
get the name and the tunes out there.
Goodbye
We now
return you to your regularly scheduled programs.
Thanks for your
emails and phone calls showin' your love. Please keep them
coming, and
let us know what you are up to. Take care, and love the one
you're with!

Poppernews:
April 2006
"It's
been a hard day's night . . ."
Greetings
from Poppermost HQ, folks! We're currently locked
away in
Trimordial Studio working on album number three. "With this
one, Roy
and I are having fun exploring new and different avenues of
songwriting, arranging, and production to find a balanced blend of the
lighter, acoustic pop in the first album and the harder, mostly
electric rock 'n' roll of the second. The result promises to
be
powerful, yet seductive and mesmerizing at the same time."
"Swan,"
one of the songs from our as-of-yet-untitled album will remain
on the Poppermost web site (http://www.poppermost.com/)
only until the end April for your free downloading pleasure.
Thanks to
all of you who have shared such wonderful comments about the song with
us. We really appreciate the input.
"They
say it's your birthday . . .
well, it's my birthday too, yeah!"
A while
back, we put in a request for you guys to send us your
birthdates, because we wanted to be able to give you the recognition
you deserve for your day. So now we start with the April
birthdays of
some of our Popperfamily by sending out birthday wishes and butterfly
kisses. Happy Birthday shouts of love go out to:
Amy G,
Heather W, Gabriella C, Brian H, Fern D, Ryan R, Nan P, and
Lanette J.
Each of
these people have been supportive of Poppermost, and we'd like
to show equal support in their old age. Happy Birthday, guys.
We love
you.
"MySpace,
in the middle of the street . . ."
As many of
you also know, MySpace is a hotbed of really great bands
that you will not find on Top 40 radio... yet. If you're
tired of the
same ol' same ol' on commercial radio, head on over to http://www.myspace.com/poppermost
and check out some of our favorite bands listed on our profile page.
Our recommendations this month:
Tripsitter
- http://www.myspace.com/tripsitter
- one of the premiere bands that Las Vegas has to offer.
These guys
really deliver the goods when it comes to "music with good taste that
tastes good." Aside from cuts from their California
Son CD,
take a listen to their stellar versions of U2's "Staring at the Sun"
and George Harrison's classic "Wah Wah." Their harmonies,
musicianship,
and sound are guaranteed to blow you away!
Brother
Luke - http://www.myspace.com/iambrotherluke
- one of Las Vegas' favorite musical sons. This guy does it
all --
writes, arranges, performs, and sings his ass off. Every time
I hear
him or see him perform, it brings to my mind Stevie Wonder in his 70's
heyday. Check out "You Had Me At Goodbye," "Everything To
Me," and
other choice cuts. You won't be sorry. (And Brother
Luke, I owe you a
big apology. I'm always spouting off about how we as
musicians need
support from our communities, and I totally missed your performance at
the Mandalay Bay House of Blues! This is after emailing you
and saying
that I would be there for support. My wife, bless her, has
been reaming
me ever since. I promise not to miss the next one, my
brother!)
Hungover
Stuntmen - http://www.myspace.com/hungoverstuntmen
- this band from Newcastle, England is going to be a force to be
reckoned with. They are a molotov cocktail of catchy songs,
emotional
vocals, and superb rock sound. With songs like "Move" and
"One Reason"
in their song lists, don't be surprised when you hear them on the
radio. Just remember: you heard it here first!
Roy
Gets Sirius . . .
While
we're highlighting special talents, we want to share another one
with you -- our own "little mad scientist / technical guru,"
Roy. We
know how great he is with sound and technical matters, but it's nice to
see his talents recognized by others, as well. That's why Roy
was hired
to engineer three live Sirius Satellite Radio broadcasts of the "Bower
Show" on Maxim Radio Sirius 108 for Maxim's 100th Issue Party at the
pool and Tryst nightclub in the Wynn Las Vegas Resort this past
weekend. He worked extra hard and did a great job and still
had a good
time. Now we just have to figure out how to peel his head out
of the
clouds because he rubbed elbows with so many celebrities like: Dave
Navarro (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction), Scott Weiland
(Velvet Revolver, Stone Temple Pilots), Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver,
Guns 'n' Roses), Mekhi Phifer (ER), Tori Spelling, Taye Diggs, Anne
Heche, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Paris and Nicky Hilton, and many more.
No one
was "siriusly" injured!
Goodbye
That's all
for now -- just wanted to give a big ol' shout out to
everybody, so the only thing left to say is: Adios, Sayonara, Ciao, Auf
Wiedersehen, Cheerio, Shalom, Au Revoir, Ya'll come back now, ya hear!
'Till next
time, stay happy, healthy, and in as much trouble as you can
possibly get away with!

New
Poppermost Song! Come Listen!
We will
return to "Oscar Watch 2006, What The Hell
Was That?"
after this message from Poppermost... gives you a good night's rest,
stays crunchy in milk, kills bugs on contact, and leaves you feeling
fresh. Have you taken Poppermost out for a test drive lately?
~~*^*~~
Have you checked e-mail, honey?
We got an e-mail from Poppermost.
Everything else is spam, hon.
Cool. What's up with the guys, honey pumpkin?
They're working on the new CD, and have a new song on the
web site called "Swan." They want us to hear it.
They say it's dedicated to
everyone who's ever felt like an "ugly duckling."
Deep. When I was a kid, I hated feeling
ugly. I thought
I'd have to wear braces forever.
My ears were too big for my head. I won't even
get into my teen years -- my acne was so bad, you could play
Connect-the-Dots! I felt like a freak!
I was the only girl in my 5th grade class to wear a
bra.
Boy, did I feel like an alien!
You think that's bad! I was the only boy in my 5th grade
class who needed a bra. I felt like I had been put together
in a
laboratory from spare parts of lesser nerds!
(She's thinking: My braces may have made me an
"ugly duckling" back then, but my "swan" sure shines
thru with this great smile and killer bod.)
(He's thinking: I sure could go for some nachos and a gallon of milk.)
So, what are we waiting for? Let's listen to
the new Poppermost song.
(He's clicking on http://www.poppermost.com/)
Oh, wow! What beautiful harmonies!
What excellent
lyrics! I think I'm going to cry! I gotta write the
guys!
(He's thinking: What killer drumming! I think I'm gonna cry!
I gotta write the guys!)
~~*^*~~
Brought to you by Poppermost,
wishing you much peace for your "inner swan."
Music with good taste that tastes good.
Poppernotes: 2/1/2006
Thanks
for all your hard work!
Hi again
everybody,
We here at
Poppermost Central stand before you, awed and humbled by the
outpouring of support we've experienced recently. Those of
you who
helped us out these past couple of weeks with the RadioINDY January
song contest know by now that it's over. It was a neck and
neck race
for a little while and it looked like we had a chance, but the other
band charged past us at the end to win.
Even
though someone else took the prize and stood in the winner's
circle for this particular contest, Poppermost is still the biggest
winner because we have great winners like you by our side.
Thanks to
everyone for their valiant efforts.
Before you
completely shut down your weary fingers for some well
deserved rest, please allow us to return some of the love you've shown
in your voting endeavors and invite you to enjoy a new Poppermost song
available exclusively from our web site for a limited time.
Just go to http://www.poppermost.com/
and click on the link for This Month's FREE song, "Forever
Valentine."
We'd also
like to send special thanks to Alexis Complexus, Angie L, Ava
L, Betty G, Betty S, Bri Batya, Calmer, Chris C, Danny H, Danny Mac,
Dayzee, Dave R, Diane L, Dylan M, Frances S, Gaby C, Guy G, Jackie C,
Janet, Jeremiah W, Marcus O, Michael S, Nini Baseema, Patti, Roberto D,
Steve F, Susan G, Terri H, Randy G, and Stereo Bear.
We know
loads of votes came from people not mentioned here, but these
are the folks who actually let us know that they were voting and/or
took great big huge steps to help to pull in extra votes from other
people. Please pass along our thanks to the friends you
recruited for
our voting project.
That's it
for now. Thanks again.

Poppermost
made it to the finals!
Hi again
everybody,
Alex and
Roy from Poppermost here. We made it to the finals
for the January 2006 RadioINDY.com Most Popular Song Contest.
We want to
say thank you for all your help in getting us to this point,
and we really need your votes more than ever for this next stage of the
contest. Sometime between Jan. 30 and Feb. 2 they will end
the contest
and the artist with the most votes at that time wins free promotion and
cash.
So please
go to http://www.radioindy.com/
and vote for "Let It Shine" by Poppermost. Vote every day, a
few times
a day if you can, from home and work and anywhere else you can think
of. We truly appreciate every bit of help we can get.
We gotta have a
Las Vegas band win this thing, so get your friends in on it, too.
Speaking
of needing help, if anyone out there knows of a drummer who is
looking for a rock band (and who likes the Beatles, the Stones, R.E.M.,
Oasis, and U2), please have them contact Alex via the information
listed below.
Thanks,
