Happy
Thanksgiving from "the Pops"
This
just in...
We just
got word as we were starting to send out this newsletter that
Poppermost will be performing Friday the 25th at a special midnight
show at the DiveBar, http://www.vegasdivebar.com/, http://www.myspace.com/vegasdivebar.
3035 E Tropicana Suite E (in
Wal-Mart Center near Sheplers), Las Vegas NV 89121, 702-435-7526. For
21 and over only. No cover. Now back to our regularly scheduled
message...
Thanks
to you, we did it! We won the "Battle!"
Happy
Thanksgiving, guys and dolls! Just a quick note to let you know
that because of your love, dedication, and votes, Poppermost won first
place in the Battle of the ZBands contest, hosted by ZBands.com.
Thanks
for taking time out of your busy schedules to vote and help us get the
name and the tunes out there.
Christmas
right around the corner... again?
Yes,
Christmas time is here again, folks! In the tradition of one of
our favorite bands, Poppermost will post a special Christmas message
and song on the web site in a couple of weeks. Just our way of saying
thanks to our families, friends, and fans for their continued support
of Poppermusic. Without you, there would be no us. Hey, maybe next year
Garth Brooks will invite us to participate in his Wal-Mart Christmas
ads on television. Roy Al and Phil are just dying to pelt him with a
snowball or four, but Alex just wants to "write his name in the snow."
O.K.,
but let's get through Thanksgiving first!
Happy
Thanksgiving from all of us at Poppermost to you guys and dolls
everywhere. We give thanks for the support, the love, and the ears! We
also remind you to remember those who are less fortunate at this time
of year. Thank you for taking the time to write, call, and visit us
when you're in Sin City. You guys are the best!
Peace on
you all,
The Staff
at Poppermost HQ

"Rock
the Casbah. . ."
Greetings
from Poppermost HQ, folks! Just wanted say thanks for coming
out to The Beach last Wednesday evening to join us and Tripsitter for a
night of pop and rock. Both bands and fans had a rollicking good time
singing, partying, and dancing the night away until the wee hours.
We would
also like to let you guys and gals know that Poppermost is one
of six national bands selected for a "Battle of the ZBands"
competition. The "battle" began Nov. 12th, and runs through Nov. 18th.
The prize is 2 weeks of front page exposure for us on their site -- in
other words, free advertising!!! Yeah!!
That said,
we are spreading the word to fans, friends and family,
asking that you please visit http://zbands.com/
and cast your vote for
Poppermost. VERY IMPORTANT! You can vote only one time.
Multiple votes
cast from the same email address will automatically result in ALL of
the votes from that address being discarded.
And, if we
are elected, we promise the formation of a new party; a
third party; the Wild Party!
Thanks,
The
Poppermost HQ Staff

We have
all dwelled upon relationships that have fallen apart. Long
after the burn, we long to pinpoint the exact moment our love lives
crashed. "Blood and Luck" is an outside observation of the fallout we
all get to witness while our friends retrace the steps of "where it all
went wrong" with the ex.
For a

Because
Poppermost Loves you! That's Why!
~~*^*~~
Anything interesting in e-mail, honey?
We got a cool e-mail from Poppermost.
Everything else is spam, hon.
Cool. What's up with the guys, honey pumpkin?
They're giving us one last chance to hear their new single,
"Love Sweet Love" for free only until September 28.
They also say they love us and miss us.
That's great; but why do we want to hear it,
honey pumpkin muffin?
Because folks are saying great things about "Love Sweet Love" like...
"Hey, the single sounds great. Really nice melody, little bit of
Beatles in lyrics." The guys say that it's a quick 2-minute
"love letter" to us and the rest of the gang.
Where can we hear it, my honey pumpkin muffin,
my heart's delight?
All right, already! I'll go to the Poppermost web site at
http://www.poppermost.com/.
I'll quit putting it off!
Just cool it with the names, okay?
Thanks, but I already heard it. Since you were "too
busy,"
I asked your friend Steve to help me download it. Have you
noticed that his eyes are hazel? Damn, he's fine!
(He's thinking, What just happened here?)
(She's thinking: Natalie was right. It's fun making him
squirm. Damn! I burned the popcorn.)
(He's thinking, Why didn't I listen to "Love Sweet Love?")
Seriously, though, honey, Steve and I loved the song.
You're gonna wish you had listened sooner!
(He's thinking, Enough with Steve already; I'm starting to hate that
guy!)
~~*^*~~
Brought to you by Poppermost, wishing you much peace and love.
Music with good taste that tastes good.

Hot
Fun In The Summertime!
Greetings
from Poppermost HQ, folks! Las Vegas is running 'triple
digit" temperatures and yes, it is "hotter than the hinges of hell" in
Popperland. We here at Poppermost celebrated our 4th year as a band on
Independence Day. Thanks to family and fan support at home and around
the globe, we're still in business and still having fun making our
special brand of music. Thanks for believing and here's wishing you
cool relief in hot July!
Official
Band Statement: Where is Poppermost?
As many of
you know, the Poppermost performing schedule has been dark
as of late. Many friends and fans want to know if and when we'll play
to an audience again. Circumstances have dictated that we lay low for a
while, but we haven't stopped recording. "Love Sweet Love," the fabled
Beatles-meets-Sly Stone hybrid mentioned in our March newsletter, is
done and will be available for listening soon. It's guaranteed good
taste and tastes good.
Betcha
By Golly Wow!
You guys
honor us by choosing to listen to our music alongside your
other favorite artists. Since the release of our CD last October,
Poppermost has had over 2000 downloads from RadioINDY http://www.radioindy.com/jamroom/bands/43/music.php.
For more info on
where you can hear us (or perhaps purchase our combination Poppermost
lunch box-and-thong set for "the one you love" -- we kid you not),
please visit us at http://www.poppermost.com/.
You'll be glad you did!
Keep the cards, letters, and e-mails coming with your questions and
comments. We can't do "our thing" without you guys.

Pops Off: "Let It Shine" is an Open Letter to My
Father
You're
never gonna see another face like mine in history!
You're
never gonna see the son again until you know it shines!
(lyric
from "Let It Shine" by Poppermost)
Hey, Dad.
It's me Alex. It's finally out of my system. I was writing a
"tv show" theme song (ala "Laverne and Shirley"), and all of a sudden
it happened. Emotions that I kept bottled inside of my head since I was
10 were triggered. 20-odd years of my pent-up hostility, frustration,
and anger for you finally erupted, creating a 3-minute, 42-second rock
song. Also uncorked were memories of the day when I decided to put you
aside and model myself after the guy I wanted to be -- Jack Tripper
(John Ritter) from "Three's Company."
For a long
time after putting you aside, I felt I had to "shine" at
everything, from school to music, because I wanted to prove that I was
worthy of your time. I felt that if you saw me as among the "best and
brightest," you'd telephone to say "I'm proud to call you my son." You
can find easy access to the song by clicking onto http://www.numberonemusic.com/poppermost.
I hope that if you hear the
song, you'll find it worth 3 minutes and 42 seconds of your time. It's
as much about myself as it is about you. Your move.
Time
To Go
Well, that
in a nutshell is our newsletter, therapy and all. Before we
head back to Roy's studio, we have a request. We'd like to send
birthday wishes to our families, friends, fans, and supporters from all
over the world (Hello Germany and Switzerland, and thanks for
listening)! Please send us your birthdays (no year required) to pop@poppermost.com
so we may add them to our calendars. Speaking of
which, happy birthday Emile Dixon (July 6th)! You'll always be Alex's
"big brother." O.K., back to work we go. Peace and love on you!

Be
It Ever So Humble . . .
Greetings
from Poppermost HQ, fans! As we unpack from the road, shake
off the filth, and elect someone to erase all the incriminating
videotape shot inside the tour bus, we'd like to thank everyone who
came to the gigs and hung out after the shows. Note for next time: when
inviting friends who like consuming mass quantities of alcohol, please
remind them to vomit before coming backstage (Jake the Roadie hates the
clean up!).
Pumping
On Your Stereo
We'd like
to say thanks to everyone for purchasing, downloading, and
listening to our music. Since the release of our CD last October, Poppermost
has had almost 1000 downloads from RadioIndy http://www.radioindy.com/jamroom/bands/43/music.php.
Votes on
RateOurBand http://www.rateourband.com/rb/index.cfm?band_id=2336
have
kept our latest single "Myself" at a steady 5 out of 5 stars. If you
haven't already, please let us know what you think of our song by
voting. It only takes a matter of seconds.
We have
finally exhausted our supplies of the first pressings of Absolutely
Sonic, but you can still obtain a copy of it (or any other
Poppermost CDs) from CD Baby http://www.cdbaby.com/poppermost4
until we
restock. Also stay tuned for further news regarding the upcoming
Poppermost interview for UK's RadioGetsWild http://www.radiogetswild.com/.
Remember
that you can download some free Poppermost music at
Download.com. So why not go to http://music.download.com/poppermost
and
test drive some of our tunes (did we mention "for free")? If none of
the above site suggestions tickle your peach, try the others found at http://www.poppermost.com/poppermusic.html.
Official
Band Statement Concerning Tour Cut Short
O.K.,
fans. We'd like to set the record straight about the
"misunderstanding" in a certain venue in Nova Scotia (that shall remain
nameless), but are legally bound to say nothing of the incident. All we
can say is that it was not a "brawl." Roy challenged club owner who
tried to serve him venison. Roy, a devout and practicing vegetarian,
went wild, loudly proclaiming "Meat is murder. Meat is murder." The
audience for that evening's show knows what happened next (why rehash
"Battle Roy-Al"). Although instructed by management not to comment on
the incident, Roy quietly stated, "All I can say is that bass guitars
are lethal weapons, and should only be used by trained professionals."
Where
Sly and the Family Stone Meets the Beatles
After
conquering Nova Scotia (and raising bail for a hasty exit), we
are back in LV, locked inside Trimordial Studio recording a new single
entitled "Love, Sweet Love." The song is described by Alex as "a stone
groove, baby. It's where Sly and the Family Stone meets the Beatles
inside my head, ya dig? Groovy."
The CD
single will also contain 3 bonus tracks not found on their
latest CD, Absolutely Sonic. "The great thing about
Suicide Pop!
Records is that label operation is modeled after British labels," says
Alex about his band's label of 3 years. "Albums are albums and singles
can stand on their own, as well as contain bonus songs for the fans.
The Jacuzzi and inflatable dolls in the company limo are just the icing
on the cake for me." Look for an early April release date.
Alex
Pops Off: "California Son is a classic"
Recently,
I had the good fortune of seeing local band, Tripsitter, in
action at Palace Station and spending some time with their
singer / songwriter / keyboardist Jeff Celentano. He floated me a copy
of
their latest CD, California Son. I didn't have the
CD for 24 when I
read a scathing one sentence review of it in a local weekly (The
Mercury News); the review read (and I quote), "There is no
justification for this." On the contrary, I'd like to go on record
saying that California Son is the most important
song cycle to come
from an American band so far this decade. (So how did the Merc fumble
this one? Hell, how did Rolling Stone Magazine fumble every single
Zeppelin album?) Catch them, and those great harmonies, at the House of
Blues (Mandalay Bay) on March 3 or visit their site at http://www.tripsitter.net
to learn more about this amazing band and
some great music!
Adios,
Amigos! We're Outta Here!
Well, that
in a nutshell is our newsletter. Until next time, remember
to visit Poppermost at
http://www.poppermost.com/
and check out new songs, features, and
additions. Take care of each other, and always remember to (as Otis
Redding once sang) try a little tenderness. Peace on all of you, and
thanks for the continued support.
